Picked up one of these for a fiver in a charity shop and it started my fascination with the beauty of watch engineering. I have changed the bracelet to a calf leather strap now which I prefer.

I have exact watch, skx033, wear it as a daily watch, has the same aged bezel, it looks like 1970's Pepsi Gmt.

Seiko 5 sports... People who are talking shit about it are just being stupid. They do not dive as deep as 100M. The screw-down crown is nothing more than an extra step in adjusting time and date. The price is very attractive for the Seiko 5 sports. I dare those who talk shit about Seiko 5 Sports to make a watch from scratch and see if you can even do it. Other than that, keep your comment to yourself because you are just hating.

So what’s the difference btwn. this and the SKX 007? More slender in design and 100mm drive and the crown now at the 3 market and both discontinued? Are these more difficult to find and I thought the SKX series were replaced by the Seiko 5 line? I wish Seiko names their watches bc remembering and understanding all these model number can be a real pain. I just got into Seikos and I keep finding out about a new older special watch and there are so many.

Great watch for the money, reliable. Great classic looking. It is an entry level watch for Seiko, still I love it, I am so happy with it.

This watch has a 4R36 mvmt, NOT a 4R35 mvmt. All the new Seiko 5's hsve this mvmt

Love the Everest. It would be even better with a sapphire and a Seiko "Mecaquartz" movement. It is a pity that we are not given the option on this.

Now this would be the ideal watch for me if only it was fitted with the Seiko "Mecaquartz" movement. I cannot see the attraction of mechanical movements especially the automatic versions...

In today's world an expensive watch may see only occasional use. Watches can be easily damaged at the desk while working with compuers. Repeated unscewing of the crown may put an unnecessary stress on the mechanism. It makes better sense to have a non-renewable crown on a watch.

These are indeed special! I finally bought a few TimeFactors watches after more than a decade of admiring the products but somehow never actually making a purchase. I collected vintage pieces for years and I must say Eddie has really nailed the aesthetic and feel in his watches, only with the added benefits of modern standards.

With Seiko you don't get sapphire, you get QC issues such as misaligned bezels, bad screw down crowns (even sellers have a warning for bad seiko crowns), low beat cheap movements 4r or 6r, cheap bracelets. The bezel insert on that seiko looks no better than a $150 Orient diver lol. Not sure how you came to these conclusions...

Are these the same as the SKX in that it requires you to wear it in order for it to work? The reason I got rid of my SKX is because I have multiple watches in rotation so by the time I got back to the SKX I would have to reset it every time

The movement is better, it has drilled lugs, applied indices & looks great. IT IS NOT FOR DIVING SO WHAT FFS
